According to the Ministry, 502 people are hospitalized stable and 350 with a reserved prognosis.
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) of Ecuador reported 912 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and 29 additional deaths related to this disease, this Wednesday, October 14, 2020.
The confirmed cases amount to 149.083 and 258.812 discarded cases.
475.454 samples have been taken so far. Ecuador is, along with Bolivia, the country in the region that performs the fewest tests per number of inhabitants.
The MSP registered 128.134 recovered patients last Sunday, equivalent to 87% of all confirmed cases that day. The Ministry explained that these are people who, 29 days after diagnosis, are still alive. The government will update this figure every week.
According to the distribution of cases by provinces, the Andean Pichincha, whose capital is Quito, is the one that accumulates the highest level of infections with 47.208.
It is followed by the provinces of Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, with 20.805 cases, Manabí with 10.207, Azuay (9.732), El Oro (5.936), Loja (5.813), Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (5.029) and Tungurahua (4.857), among the most affected.
As for the municipalities with the highest number of cases, Quito with 43.307 cases, Guayaquil with 14.270, Cuenca (7.760), Loja (4.500) and Santo Domingo (4.242).
