After the electoral victory of the Bolivian candidate of the Movement for Socialism (MAS), Luis Arce Catacora, world leaders have sent their congratulations to the newly elected president and the Bolivian people.
The Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, congratulated Bolivians for having held peaceful general elections, while urging all the country’s leaders to work “with the same commitment to democracy, respect for rights human rights and national reconciliation to address the current political, social, economic and health challenges facing the country ”.

The Government of Venezuela, through a statement from the Foreign Ministry, stated that “this historic triumph renews the hope of the Bolivian people, who are resuming the democratic path towards social justice, despite the suffering and trauma imposed during the last 12 months” .
