Judge Daniella Camacho deferred the diligence that was originally scheduled for October 5.
At the end of the month, the preparatory hearing for the trial for the former Secretary of Risks, Alexandra Ocles, and others for possible influence peddling in the case of food kits with an alleged surcharge is expected.
The diligence that was originally scheduled for Monday, October 5, was deferred due to different requests to request information from the Prosecutor’s Office.
Judge Daniella Camacho considered that Mauricio Carvajal’s request was justified for the Prosecutor’s Office to certify if the tax file is complete and is available to the procedural subjects.
In addition, Carvajal requested that if a refusal was received, the hearing be deferred as it happened.
The judge warned the procedural subjects that the new date (October 30) will not be deferred for any reason.
On May 18, prosecutor Wilson Toainga filed charges against Ocles and four suspects for having participated in the alleged irregularities registered in the process of acquiring 7,000 food kits for vulnerable populations during the pandemic.
At that time, the prosecutor based his arguments on 44 elements of conviction.
On August 12, on the other hand, the Attorney General’s Office filed a private accusation against Ocles, Cesar Egas, Jorge Obaco, Mauricio Carvajal and Carlos Muñiz because a contract had been granted with the State against legal and regulatory provisions.
In its accusation, the Prosecutor’s Office recalled that Ocles as director of the Risk Management Service declared the emergency situation in that institution and accepted the suggestion of a technical report on the need to buy the food kits.
On September 15, Judge Camacho declared the prosecution investigation concluded.
Guido Prado, Ocles’s lawyer, insisted on the client’s innocence and added that this is a purely political and media issue.
