Ecuador registers 139.534 cases of COVID-19 and 11.495 deaths

Ecuador reports 950 new infections and 62 more deaths in the last 24 hours. The country registers a total of 139.534 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 11.495 deaths this Friday, October 2, 2020.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 139.534 cases confirmed with a PCR test, out of a total of 446.706 samples that have been taken nationwide. In addition, 7.678 people died with a positive diagnosis and 3.812 with suspicion that the cause of death was the coronavirus.

There are 631 stable hospitalized patients nationwide and 370 with a reserved prognosis. In one day, 1.001 hospitalized patients are reported. While 135 more people were discharged from the hospital and the total number of patients who left the hospital and are recovering at home rises to 19.022.

Since the pandemic began, 112.296 people have recovered from the disease. According to the government report, this number represents 83.34% of the total infected. This indicator is updated every week with an average of 5.500 patients recovered weekly.

Pichincha reports 583 new infections in the last 24 hours. In addition, of the 62 deaths that are registered 36 occurred in Pichincha. The most affected province adds a total of 41.358 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1.745 deaths. Quito adds 519 infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 37.922.
