Emgirs collected more than 300 corporses since April

The Metropolitan Public Company for Comprehensive Solid Waste Management (Emgirs) reported that since April 4, 360 corporses have been collected in Quito.

A report uploaded to a digital platform indicates that 144 corporses were found in the south of the capital, 143 in the north, 29 in the Los Chillos valley, 28 in the central area, and 16 in Tumbaco.

Of the total number of deaths, 285 corporses were raised from homes, 33 on public roads, 24 in health centers, and 18 were special cases.

With the pandemic, the death toll found in the rubble increased dramatically. In April 5 corporses were registered; in May; 35; in June, 47; in July, 129; and in August, 122.

At the moment, the country has 11.171 deaths due to the coronavirus and in the case of Pichincha 1.578, according to official figures from the Ministry of Health.
