Judge ordered the immediate payment of back wages of public sector workers

This, after accepting a protection action filed by the Office of the Ombudsman

A judge from the Quito Civil Judicial Unit accepted the protection action filed by the Ombudsman’s Office for the National Government to make immediate payment of the wages owed to public sector workers.

In the same way, the magistrate ordered President Moreno to define with his ministers, public policies that are attached to the Constitution and international instruments aimed at guaranteeing and making effective the full exercise of the rights of workers in the country’s public sector

Thus, the State must make the immediate payment of overdue salaries and benefits, since the violation of the rights to work, to a dignified life, to non-discrimination, to health and to legal security of the workers of the public sector.

The Ombudsman, Freddy Carrión, stressed that the State violated the rights of thousands of public servants, since it did not pay their salaries on time and, as reparation, the judge demanded that the State comply in a timely manner, the first days of each month, with this cancellation.

“The judge’s resolution allows it to be paid on time and that the families of the servers can count on daily sustenance.”
