Sports Secretariat is accused of intervention in the elections of Fedeazuay

The entity will carry out internal investigations to have all the information that the Azuay Prosecutor’s Office requests.

Edwin Loyola, President of the Azuay Sports Federation (FDA), announced that he will impose a protective action against the secretary of sport, Andrea Sotomayor, and also against the zonal coordinator 6 of the same institution, Cristhian Yumbla.

Loyola accuses members of the Secretary of Sport of meddling in FDA elections. For the president of the FDA, it all started on August 7 when elections were called for delegates from cantonal leagues and provincial associations.

These elections were attended by Rolando Parra, technical delegate of the Sports Secretariat, and after several inconveniences in the assembly, he withdrew stating that “the elections had been stolen” and that the FDA had a “shoddy president.”

The current president of the FDA thinks that this action by Parra leaves the Sports Secretariat very badly, in addition, he questions the supposed “neutrality” that a delegate must have in the elections, since, for him, Rolando Parra supported two candidates . In addition, Loyola thinks that Parra should not go to these elections, because his daughter belongs to the board of the Asociación de Baile Deportivo.

On the other hand, from the FDA they comment that Cristhian Yumba did not want to send any delegate to the elections of the cantonal leagues and provincial associations, because according to him, FDA did not comply with sports regulations and the election process was “threatening.” However, Yumba decided to send Rafael Buestan and Rolando Parra as delegates.

From the Sports Secretariat they affirm that they will do all the pertinent investigations to support the Azuay Prosecutor’s Office in this case. Sotomayor, secretary of sport, also commented that it is her position that the institution does not interfere in sports elections.
