Ecuador registers 112.141 cases of COVID-19 and 10.226 deaths

Ecuador reports 922 new infections and 47 more deaths in the last 24 hours. In total, the country registers 112.141 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 10.226 deaths due to this pandemic on August 28, 2020.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 112.141 infected, of which 103.185 were confirmed with a PCR test. In addition, 6.504 people died with a positive prognosis. To this figure are added the 3.722 deaths probably due to the virus.

At the national level, there are 874 stable hospitalized patients and 381 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.255 patients hospitalized in one day, while 109 people were discharged from hospital.

In more than two weeks there has not been a significant increase in the number of hospitalized. Despite the fact that the Intensive Care Units (ICU) continue to work at full capacity, there was a reduction in patients admitted to hospitalization or intermediate care.

Pichincha reports 144 new infections and three more deaths in the last 24 hours. The province most affected by the pandemic in Ecuador has 23.525 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Quito adds 126 more infected, being one of the lowest figures of daily infections this week. The total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 21.238.
