Government will not be able to decree a new state of exception by verdict of the Constitutional Court

This measure will be in force in the country until September 14, 2020.

The Constitutional Court (CC) issued a verdict to alert the National Government that it will not admit a new declaration of a state of exception in the country, since this measure has been renewed on two occasions.

The Minister of Government, María Paula Romo, announced on her Twitter account this decision of the Constitutional Court and explained that the measures that are currently applied such as the curfew or restrictions on the right of free association will end when this period ends. in mid-September.

In the same way, she explained that there will be other types of controls for the presence of the coronavirus in Ecuador, but that most of it will be in the self-care and self-protection of each person.

In addition, she announced that in the case of vehicular traffic it will no longer be a resolution of the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to determine which vehicle is circulating or not, but rather of the municipalities.

This same criterion would apply to events where there may be crowds such as concerts, conventions, conferences and others.
