CNE officializes the electoral roll for the 2021 general elections

More than 13 million Ecuadorians are registered to vote in the next presidential and parliamentary elections in February 2021.

The National Electoral Council (CNE) approved, this Tuesday, August 18, 2020, the closing of the electoral registry for the general elections of 2021 and 13’099. 150 voters were registered to participate in the elections.

Of the 13’099.150 officially announced, 12’688.911 live in the country, while 410.239 reside abroad, according to the code of democracy, compatriots living abroad can only vote if they resided in Ecuador for 5 years.

This electoral roll for the 2021 elections includes 6’466.855 male voters and 6’632.295 female voters. The majority of people authorized to vote are obliged to do so, those who are between 18 and 65 years old, are 10’852.974 million people.

The optional vote is divided into two, people between 16 and 18 years of age, which number 633.044, and people over 65 years of age, totaling 1’613.132. For these elections there will be a total of 2.036 electoral zones, between national and international.

The elections for 2021 include elections for the president of the republic, assembly members and Andean parliamentarians.

The electoral roll is drawn up by the CNE, with data provided by the Civil Registry. Its approval was given by the votes of José Cabrera, Esthela Acero and Diana Atamaint, while Luis Verdesoto abstained, and Vice President Enrique Pita did not attend for personal reasons.
