Ecuador reports 1.177 new infections and 40 more deaths in the last 24 hours. In total, this Thursday, July 30, 2020, the country reports 84.370 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 9.125 deaths due to this pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are 84.370 infected, 115.295 cases discarded, 5.657 deaths with a positive diagnosis and 3.468 deaths suspected of carrying the virus.
Regarding the situation of those infected, 41.650 are in home isolation, 879 are stable and 360 are hospitalized with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.239 patients hospitalized in one day, compared to 122 people who were discharged from hospital and 130 were epidemiologically discharged.
The number of recovered patients has not changed for 32 days and has remained at 5.900 since June 29.
In Pichincha there are 293 new infections in the last 24 hours, for a total of 14.655 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Quito, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, has 265 more infections and amounts to 13.212 cases.
Due to the increase in infections in several provinces, the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) resolved to extend the curfew from Friday to Sunday, for 15 days. Now, the hours will be from 19:00 to 05:00, for 18 provinces of the country. In addition, on these three days of the week the sale of alcohol is prohibited.
