Almost half of Brazilians very afraid of contracting Covid-19

(Prensa Latina) Forty-seven percent of Brazilians are very afraid of contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus, according to a survey by the Datafolha Institute published on the website of the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper.

The study also indicates that 51 percent of those questioned admitted that they only leave home when it is unavoidable, while only 12 percent of respondents acknowledged that they are totally isolated in this period of quarantine.

According to the research, the proportion of people who declare to be very afraid is higher among the poorest (51 percent compared to 36 of the richest).

The case is the same for women (53 percent compared to 41 men) and residents of the Northeast region (52 percent).

Datafolha also asked whether or not people are concerned about the pandemic. Twenty percent answered that people are more concerned than they should be, 58 less than they should be, 20 said that only to a certain extent and two responded they did not know.

Two thousand and sixteen people were consulted via telephone on June 23rd and 24th to. The margin of error is two percentage points.

Of that total of cases, 552,419 are still under treatment and 757,446 patients recovered from the disease.

Brazil remains the second country in the world in the count of infections and deaths by Covid-19, behind the United States.
