(Prensa Latina) Bolivia’s de facto government is preparing a coup to prevent that Luis Arce, presidential candidate for the Movement towards Socialism (MAS), wins the coming elections, according to complaints.
In an article to which Prensa Latina had access, political scientist and journalist Ernesto Reyes made evident on Tuesday the absence of constitutional guarantees and the political persecution unleashed against supporters of ousted former President Evo Morales.

Reyes revealed the validity of the lawfare method against popular leaders, in reference to the criminal complaint filed this Tuesday before the Public Ministry against Luis Arce for alleged economic damage to the State for implementing the Public Manager to the management of the workers’ social contributions.

This is not the first time that an attitude of aggression has been assumed against the MAS presidential candidate since he returned to Bolivia after spending a short time in Mexico, the source recalled.

Reyes pointed out that, with the intention of perpetuating in power, Jeanine Añez’ administration uses in its favor the coronavirus epidemic, whose expansion is uncontrollable due to the absence of a government coherent plan, the deficit of ventilators and biosafety material, as well as corruption scandals to purchase equipment.

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales denounced this Tuesday that the imminent electoral defeat of the de facto government leads it to invent processes against MAS every day; ‘now (…) the government started a lawsuit about false conjectures against our candidate Luis Arce, to sentence him because he leads the polls.’
