It is attributed to what happened by the pandemic and the events of October.
Guido Macchiavello, Minister of Urban Development and Housing, said he expects that this year around 158 thousand houses will be built, taking into account the projects that are already underway and being inaugurated, those that are starting up and those planned with alliances.
According to the official, the regime has delivered until 2019, around 28 thousand housing units. In this context, he argued that it was not possible to comply with the 250 thousand houses promised in the campaign by Prime Minister Lenín Moreno, due to what happened in the pandemic and in the protests of October 2019.
“We must accept and understand that we experienced complications in October, the fall of all processes through the pandemic. We have lost six months in the four years of involvement. What we propose to be significant and important within what President Moreno said. “
He explained that according to the last 2010 census, the country has a housing deficit of 400,000 units, a number that is increasing by around 30,000 annually.
With this base, he pointed out that the concern of the construction companies is based on the granting of credits and the agility of procedures in the Local Governments, with whom an approach is being taken to reach agreements.
