Social and workers organizations call for new mobilizations against the measures of the government of Ecuador

FUT ratifies mobilizations for June 8

They held the government responsible for the repression that could occur, after the signing of the ministerial agreement that allows the progressive use of military force in demonstrations

The Unitary Front of Workers (FUT) – Pichincha ratifies the mobilization that they will carry out next Monday, June 8 in Quito in rejection of the Humanitarian Support Law. Social organizations, students and educators will also participate in the protests.

“We are going to mobilize to prevent that law from being executed. This law, misnamed humanitarian, protects the interests of capitalists, neoliberalism and economic elites, “said Edwin bedoya, president of the FUT-Pichincha, in a virtual press conference.

Quito will be the scene of a new day of protests against the Law, sent by the Executive and approved by the National Assembly in May this year.

For José Chusín, social leader, the approval of this regulation is reprehensible because it makes work conditions even more precarious and is a regression of rights.

“That is why from the social organizations we indicate what the impacts will be the reduction of rights,” he added.

A few days ago, the Federation of Ecuadorian University Students (FEUE) joined this call, in defense of education, decent work, health, against corruption and economic measures.

Gabriel García, representative of the workers of the Quito Electric Company, said that they will also take to the streets next Monday. “It is time to defend the State’s assets,” he said.

The call, as has been usual in the latest protests in the country, ask attendees to wear their masks and comply with biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Union leaders blamed the government for the repression that could occur in this day of protests, after the signing of the ministerial agreement that allows the progressive use of military force in demonstrations, the last level being the use of lethal weapons.

“We have the right to resistance, health, housing and education,” they emphasized.
