The cantons of Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal passed to the stage of social distancing.
Since May 27, the Galapagos National Park (PNG) allows the inhabitants of the islands to enter the beaches located in the protected areas, after confinement due to the pandemic.
In a statement, the Park announced that the network of visitor sites close to the towns of Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal will be partially opened, according to the lifting of restrictive measures by the Emergency Operations Committee.
Both Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal changed to yellow, reducing the curfew from 15 to 8 hours, thus resuming productive activities and urban transport.
Galapagos citizens will be able to enter six beaches located in protected areas free of charge, carrying implements such as a mask and disinfectant gel. In addition, they can only stay in these places up to a maximum of three hours.
Two of the six places of visit will be enabled only for people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women and children under the age of six.
In Galapagos, there are about 30,000 inhabitants and it is the province with the fewest cases of COVID-19 in the country. A total of 76 infected, according to the cut made by the Ministry of Health on May 25.
