This blockade restricts access to medicines, technology and participation in major events, said the Cuban minister at the forum convened by UNESCO

Through a virtual forum convened by Unesco, Alpidio Alonso reiterated his complaint against the cruel US offensive towards the island in the current context of Covid-19.

The Cuban Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, denounced the cruel blockade suffered by the island by the United States in the context of the health emergency before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).

During a virtual forum, convened by Unesco to discuss the consequences of the coronavirus in the cultural sphere, the Cuban minister highlighted the efforts his government is making to combat the global pandemic.

Likewise, Alonso denounced that Cuba is a victim of the US criminal blockade, since the US government prevents access to medicines, technology and participation in major events to combat Covid-19.

“Collaboration and solidarity should prevail, over political differences,” as Cuban doctors have demonstrated in carrying out their humanitarian work on the island and in other parts of the world, said the culture minister.
