Armed groups deny access to food to Colombian indigenous people

The National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (Onic) denounced that several communities in the department of Chocó are confined by the restriction of mobility imposed by illegal armed groups.

The places affected by this confinement are Villa Hermosa, Playita, Egoroquera and Unión Baquiaza, who live in the Opogado river basin, in the municipality of Bojayá, the organization reported in a statement.
The members of the communities are complying with the measures established by the Colombian government to face the crisis caused by the coronavirus. However, they need to move to get food, says ONIC.

Furthermore, they urge the Iván Duque government to take actions that guarantee the delivery of aid to indigenous communities and neutralize the activities of irregular armed groups in the area.
