IACHR is concerned about threats to doctors in Ecuador who denounced lack of supplies

“Health professionals must have all the materials and equipment necessary for their protection and for the work they do,” the organization said.

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) issued an alert against Ecuador for the alleged threats of disciplinary proceedings against health professionals who claimed the lack of medical supplies to deal with the coronavirus in the country.

The agency published three messages on its Twitter account. They are concerned about intimidation of doctors and staff working in the health areas of different hospitals. Doctors have been threatened with the application of various processes for denouncing the lack of supplies to work.

In this pronouncement, the IACHR also urges the Government of Ecuador to advance in actions against this pandemic. They also requested that the needs of health professionals be met so that they can care for victims of the coronavirus.
