15 countries ask Cuba the antiviral, Interferon Alfa 2B, to fight the coronavirus

A pharmaceutical product that has already been used in patients in China who have improved their immune systems.

Cuba has taken the initiative in the development of Interferon, used for cancer, because it strengthened the immune system of patients.

China used the Cuban antiviral “Interferon Alfa 2B” to treat patients infected with covid-19, despite not being a vaccine or cure against the new coronavirus, manages to lessen its effects, which is why 15 countries have requested its purchase.

The vice-general manager of the Cuban-Chinese firm Changheber, Dr. Santiago Dueñas Carrera, points out that “it has been used mainly by doctors to increase their immune system and to cope with this situation.”

In this way, the firm would have supplied more than 200,000 doses, which has included patients, combined with other retrovirals.

This drug of Cuban origin Interferon, already used by the “Asian Giant” in more than 20 regions, around 100,000 people would have benefited from the treatment of various diseases, especially Hepatitis B and C.

The Cuban trademark had its beginning in the Government of Fidel Castro, who promoted its development by preparing a group of scientists in the United States. and Finland within the health advances of interferon. Thus, the Caribbean island began with the production of its own batches of the molecule, whose objective was to fight cancer.

Many years ago, Cuba used Interferon to treat various diseases of its citizens, including HIV. For its success, today it is recognized for strengthening the immune system in the body.

The Director of Biomedical Research, Gerardo Enrique Guillén Nieto, from Havana, indicates that medicine “participates at different levels in signaling and inducing the immune response.”

Today, Cuban scientists propose to develop a peptide in order to modify the structure of the cell through which the new coronavirus enters. If the results are successful, the project will be sent to Chinese laboratories for testing against the pandemic.

Even Guillén assures that they proposed to Asian authorities to develop a prototype of a vaccine, “capable of boosting the immune system.”
