COE adopts protocol to return vulnerable Ecuadorians abroad

It is the first group of compatriots to return to the country

The national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) resolved new measures in the context of the coronavirus health emergency. Among them, adopt a return protocol for a first group of Ecuadorians from abroad, prioritizing the most vulnerable people.

The first to return will be minors without parents abroad, pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Once they have entered the country, they will have to comply with various provisions to control that returned migrants, in the case of carrying the virus, do not transmit it.

They must comply with the mandatory preventive isolation and apply the test for COVID-19 to know the status of the citizen. The objective, says the Chancellery, is to take care of travelers, their families and society.

Once this resolution was approved, the Mayor of Quito, Jorge Yunda, also reported that they have approved, as a Municipality, the protocol for the return to the country of the vulnerable groups described above, maintaining a strict epidemiological fence and ensuring compliance.
