This is added to the fact that 8 of 10 do not believe the word of the President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno.
Francis Romero, director of Click Report, and Geovanny Mejía of Eureknow, reported on the results of the surveys carried out by both companies in February where issues related to the coronavirus and the management of the National Government were encountered.
Click Report revealed that 9 out of 10 people say that Ecuador is not prepared to face a coronavirus-related pandemic.
For example, last Thursday, after authorities declared a health emergency, citizens panicked and flocked to supermarkets.
Regarding the rating of President Lenín Moreno, the head of Click pointed out that the president’s visit to the United States had a positive impact as his positive image rose from 9% to 21%, credibility reached 20% and management 18%.
“The population has reacted positively, but this does not mean that it is good because there are still 80% of Ecuadorians who do not believe it, who do not trust their word.”
Mejía from his side agreed with Romero and said that 7 and 8 out of ten people are alarmed by the situation the world is facing in the face of the virus.
“Above all because there is a perception that the competent authorities are not prepared and do not have the tools or leadership to face contagion.”
“91% of the people interviewed at the national level said that the Government is not prepared to face this situation (…) It is important to be clear that citizens do not trust the capacity of the Government”
He added that the little or nothing that the regime has done is not well appreciated by the public, for example, the fact of having emphasized a call center is not well regarded.
“48% of people say that it is not an appropriate measure to face this situation because they have already experienced other services of the same type and realize that they do not work.”
On the way in which they report on the subject, Mejía explained that 69% do it on television, 54% on Facebook, 31% on WhatsApp, Twitter and radio.
“In addition 65% said they will avoid crowds, 63% that they will visit cinemas, restaurants, cafes less frequently and 26% abandon the idea of having a trip that they had planned and this shows that the economy will have a hard hit.”
