López Obrador highlights success of Morena popular vote in Mexico

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, today described as a success the massive participation of Morena’s affiliates in the voting process for the III National Congress of that party.

Asking about this during his morning press conference at the National Palace, the President explained that it was a good day because around 2,500,000 citizens participated, a massive presence for an internal election.

That figure is very high, and many non-militants also participated and registered and affiliated to Morena in that process.

He praised the leaders Mario Delgado, its president, and Citlalli Hernandez, secretary general, for the conduction of these assemblies held in the 300 districts in the 32 federal entities of the country.

He admitted that there was nonconformity and expressed the opinion that these processes must be improved so that there is no violation, no vote hauling, and unfortunately there were still this kind of practices, but in very few cases.

He congratulated all those who participated in these elections and expressed his hope that the conservative parties would take this as an example of democracy and direct participation of the masses.

He asked them to make open calls like Morena so that it is not only those at the top who decide and make agreements in fancy restaurants.

The only thing that moves them, he said, is the ambition for power and money and that means not being a good citizen or anything like that because it requires ethics that they do not have and politics is an ethical imperative.

He said he has a way of measuring results even if it seems Manichean, and that is that if the enemies say it was bad it is that it was very good because they always say the opposite. What is bad for them is good for us, that does not fail.
