Justicialista Party expresses solidarity with Cristina Fernandez

The National Council of the Justicialist Party (PJ) today expressed its solidarity with the Argentine Vice President, Cristina Fernández,and repudiated the political persecution against her, implemented through the judiciary.

We call on all Peronists throughout our homeland, in all basic units and party headquarters, to remain united, organized, mobilized, and on permanent alert, to defend true democracy and conquered rights, says a statement from that organization.

The text also urges support for “the most important leader of the Argentine people” and condemns the lawfare mechanism used against her.

As happened with Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva in Brazil, Rafael Correa in Ecuador, and Evo Morales in Bolivia, among others, the judicial apparatus is used with the appearance of legality to delegitimize the political processes of dignity, sovereignty, defense of the Great Homeland, points the document.

The rule of law is dangerously undermined by the systemic action of the real powers that build cases against those who represent and fight for popular interests, while guaranteeing the impunity of the looters who indebted the country, compromising the present and future of millions of Argentines, it adds.

In addition, it denounces that “sectors of the judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to be representatives of the perpetrators of that ignominy, setting themselves up as sinister protagonists of the circus that only manages to show the fear they have of a woman without fear”.

The statement criticizes the violations of constitutional rights and guarantees in rigged processes conceived by those who play soccer in the residence of former President Mauricio Macri.

“Our movement had to resist the fierce persecution against its leaders on more than one occasion throughout history. We uphold and make Fernandez’s words our own: This is not a trial against Cristina, but against Peronism, the national and popular governments, and those of us who fight for memory, truth, justice,” he says.

During the last accusatory hearing of the so-called Highway Cause, prosecutor Diego Luciani requested a sentence of 12 years in prison for the also head of the Senate and his perpetual disqualification from holding public office for alleged irregularities in the adjudication of 51 works in the province of Santa Cruz from 2003 to 2015.

In a televised appearance, the former president demonstrated the illicit ties between businessmen, officials, judges, prosecutors, and Macri; and she denounced the lack of evidence against her, as well as the violations committed in the trial.

According to local media, during a meeting of the PJ leadership, President Alberto Fernández proposed holding a massive mobilization to support the deputy president, which could take place on September 16.
