Argentine President received death threats

Argentine President Alberto Fernandez revealed on Thursday that he has received death threats and warned about hate speeches and incitement to violence by opposition groups.

In statements to El Destape Radio, he noted that the fact is being investigated by the Federal Police and he decided not to provide further details so as not to interfere in the investigations.

However, he pointed out that it is not the first time that he has received threats of these kinds, and denounced the offenses and attacks, including physical attacks on officials and ministers.

He criticized the statements made by Lawmaker Francisco Sanchez, from Propuesta Republicana, who called for the death penalty for Vice President Cristina Fernandez.

It is all a delirium and nonsense that proves the level of ignorance by many. I think he will have no luck with his proposal to change the law and ask for such a thing, he said.

They are committing the crime of incitement of violence and public intimidation, which is established in the criminal code, but there are no prosecutors to do anything.

It is necessary to end these speeches that are often justified by some media, he added.
