Twenty-nne thousand citizens return to Venezuela

The Government of Venezuela today highlights the benefits of the Plan (Return to the Country) Vuelta a la Patria, which in its four years of implementation guaranteed the return of more than 29,000 compatriots from 22 countries.

This initiative created by President Nicolás Maduro to support Venezuelan migrants abroad who do not have their own means to return, is framed in the new Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, indicates the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations.

The Bolivarian authorities celebrate “the triumph of peace diplomacy”, with a high social and preventive content, which is materialized thanks to the work of a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional team that provides comprehensive care to those who face different contingencies and situations outside national borders.

This policy makes it possible to attend to the victims of the “immigration situation process” derived from the coercive, unilateral and illegal measures applied against Venezuela, which have an impact on socioeconomic conditions and generate a crisis in public services.

The source exemplifies their impact on the operation of the national state airline Conviasa, which is prevented from accessing updating mechanisms, acquisition of spare parts and pilot training, obstacles that make it difficult to maintain the operational plan.

The Bolivarian Government ratifies that, despite the complexity of the situation and limitations, the concern of the President of the Republic to care for Venezuelans is to respond to the requests of those who wish to voluntarily return to the country, which makes the program a priority.

The note quotes Foreign Minister Carlos Faría, who states that currently the Venezuelan consular offices and embassies “collect and organize information to carry out new flights” and continue with the repatriation of thousands of other compatriots.

In the last four years, a total of 29,124 Venezuelans returned to the South American nation on 167 flights and a maritime transfer as part of the Vuelta a la Patria program, which did not stop in the midst of the contingency created by Covid-19.
