Lula fulfills electoral commitments in northern Brazil

 Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Wednesday visits Manaus, capital of the northern Amazonas state, to participate in campaign events as a candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) for the next elections.

Sources close to his group confirmed that the favorite candidate in the opinion polls will tour the Honda automobile company’s factory in the Free Zone and the Amazon Museum.

Lula will also participate in the “Todos Juntos por Brasil y Amazonas” (All Together for Brazil and Amazonas) public act, and will meet with 35 entities and social movements to discuss sustainable development in the region.

On Thursday, he expects to attend the “Todos Juntos por Pará” (All Together for Pará) event at the Marine Club Nautical Space, in Belém, capital of the state.

According to the tour agenda, the former labor leader will be present at the “Todos Juntos por Maranhão” (All Together for Maranhão) event, on September 2.

On Tuesday, the presidential candidate talked in Sao Paulo with governors, former governors, and representatives of security forces to discuss proposals for the area of his future administration.

The first presidential round is scheduled for October 2, when 156,454,011 Brazilians will cast their vote, to elect the president of the Republic, governors, senators, federal, state, and district lawmakers.
