The Croatian National Institute of Public Health warned today that the country is facing a new wave of high pathogenicity of the omicron coronavirus, the radio and television company HRT in this capital informed.
Croatia is under the blow of a new wave of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the cause of the Covid-19 pandemic, as a result of which the number of positive cases among those tested increased by 30 percent, the institute reported in a statement.
According to Croatian epidemiologists, three subvariants of omicron are currently circulating in the nation, while the highest number of infections is registered in the country’s capital, Zagreb, and in the Split-Dalmatia and Primorsko-Goran regions.
During the last day, 1899 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Croatia, among which 16 people died from complications associated with the disease.
