German Parliament deputy Sevim Dagdelen called on the European Union to prepare for the dissolution of NATO and not sacrifice the interests of member countries with a view to pleasing those of the United States.
“At the moment, this may seem utopian to the people of Germany, but our long-term goal should be to dissolve the Atlantic alliance and replace it with a collective security system focused on disarmament and cooperation,” he stressed.
In an interview with the Chinese newspaper Global Times, the parliamentarian specified that the interests of the EU, the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on the Ukrainian issue completely contradict each other.
In the words of Dagdalen, the United States is ready to fight to the last Ukrainian for the military defeat of Russia, but the EU should not adapt to its interests and strategy.
According to the politician, the crisis situation in Ukraine demonstrates that peace in the European region cannot be guaranteed without taking into account the interests of the Russian Federation.
“There will be no peace in Europe without Russia, that’s what we learned from the current crisis in Ukraine,” he stressed.
According to him, the international community should forget about Cold War methods and thinking, as opposition blocs are forming around the world.
“It is necessary to abandon the confrontation, this is the first thing we must do,” the deputy summed up.
