International Book Fair in Buenos Aires comes to an end

The 46th Buenos Aires International Book Fair on Monday celebrates its last day, after almost three weeks dedicated to promoting the cultural production of this country and Latin America.

The event, considered one of the largest of its kind in Latin America, opened its doors on April 28 with Havana as Guest of Honor and developed several activities that attracted thousands of visitors.

Organized by El Libro Foundation, the event was attended by exhibitors from more than 40 countries at La Rural exhibition center, after two years of being suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cuban literature, art, cinema and music were the protagonists of the Fair that received a delegation from the Caribbean country headed by Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso and Casa de las Americas President Abel Prieto.

On Saturday, El Libro Foundation president Ariel Granica highlighted Cuba’s participation and the broad program deployed by its artists, writers and other representatives.

He also announced that the 47th edition of the Fair will take place from April 25 to May 15, 2023, and Santiago de Chile will be the Guest of Honor.

During a ceremony at La Rural exhibition center’s Protocol Hall, Chile’s Undersecretary of Cultures and Arts Andrea Gutierrez gave great relevance to the fact of receiving such appointment from Cuba.

In addition, Gutierrez said that the celebration will take place in the year that Chile commemorates the 50th anniversary of the coup d’etat against former President Salvador Allende (1908-1973).
