Provisional list of victims of plane crash in Cameroon released

Cameroonian authorities published the provisional list of nine of the 11 occupants of a plane that crashed in a forest in the center of the country.

The website Actucameroun published the incomplete list of the people who were on board the plane, which was covering the Yaoundé-Belabo route when it crashed the day before, apparently due to bad weather conditions in the area.

Although it was not clear whether rescuers reached the crash site, Transport Minister Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe said Wednesday that the aircraft was located in the forest not far from the town of Nanga Eboko, about 150 kilometers northeast of the capital.

“Ground means are currently on their way to the location of the aircraft to provide assistance to its occupants,” the incumbent said in a statement.

This is the biggest air disaster in the country since a Kenya Airways flight crashed in 2007 with 114 people on board. There were no survivors.
