The executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, Sacha Llorenti, condemned the murder of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh at the hands of Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank territory.
Shireen Abu Akleh died the day before after being shot while was covering a new raid by Israeli security forces in the aforementioned demarcation.
The head of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty twitted describing this event as a new episode of Tel Aviv’s systematic aggression against Palestine.
“We condemn the murder of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh. This is not an isolated incident: it is part of a policy of colonization, occupation of territories and systematic violation of international law, perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people”, Llorenti stressed on his tweet.
Al Jazeera, on its part, tweeted condemning the murder of Abu Akleh. “We condemn this heinous crime (…) and hold the Israeli government and occupation forces responsible for her death.” “We ask the international community to condemn and hold that country accountable for the deliberate murder of our colleague.”
According to the official Wafa news agency, in 2021 Tel Aviv forces committed 384 violations against journalists working in Palestine.
