China’s General Customs on Monday reported that it has activated a mechanism to prevent the entry and spread of hepatitis of unknown etiology that is mainly affecting minors in twenty countries.
That institution ordered to deepen health declarations, the monitoring of body temperature and medical check-ups for travelers from the hit nations who arrive in this nation.
The measures will be implemented more rigorously in children and teenagers with symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea, and some hospitals have also been designated to treat these cases.
According to the National Health Commission, China has not reported any patients with the rare hepatitis so far, but remains attentive to the issue and is collecting all possible information to prepare in time and know how to proceed when the pathology is detected.
Over 200 cases of that disease have been reported this month in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Slovenia, France, Ireland, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Romania, as well as in the Americas and Asia.
Health authorities of the European Union indicated that the hepatitis A, B, C, E and D viruses were not detected in laboratory tests, but in some samples they found the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.
