Ecuador currently has an Anti-Corruption Public Policy Secretariat, made official by President Guillermo Lasso, to fight against this scourge.
The entity was set up after Executive Decree 412 was signed and it will be headed by Luis Verdesoto, former member of the National Electoral Council.
According to reports, the Secretariat will have a technical office in the Carondelet Palace, headquarters of the presidency, and an anti-corruption strategy.
Among its functions, the entity will coordinate, manage, follow up and assess the implementation of the public integrity policy and against corrupt acts.
According to Verdesoto, the Secretariat’s task is to promote, in each area, efficient policies in all sectors that combine anti-corruption criteria, which are essentially sustainable, while the competences of other State functions are respected.
