Two explosions in Afghanistan caused nine dead and 13 injured people

At least nine people were killed and other 13 were injured due to two explosions that occurred last night in the Afghan Mazar-e-Sharif city, capital of the Balj province, security officials reported.

Najibullah Tawana, head of Balj´s public health department said that there were women and children among the dead, according to TOLO news.

Provincial health authorities confirmed that hospitals have received the bodied of the dead and the injured people are being treated.

Both explosions had the public transpotation as target, the source added.

A Balj security department´s spokesman said that the blasts were caused by explosives placed in vehicles.

The Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks, Afghan news agency The Khaama Press noted.

The two blasts occurred just minutes before people broke their fast for the holy month of Ramadan and at a time when commuters were rushing home.
