Hungary´s government will use the system implemented by Russia and will pay in rubles oil and gas imports from this nation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, confirmed.
Moscow´s measure seeks to counteract the effects of the sanctions imposed by the European Union and the West against Russia after the military operation´s begining in Ukraine.
The 85% of the gas and more than half of the oil that Hungary consumes comes from Russia, a reason behind the Budapest executive´s decision, according to Szijjarto.
Other nations like Germany and Poland refused to pay in rubles the fuel but will send weapons to Ukraine, a fact that according to the Kremlin will delay the conflict and could put civilians lives at risk.
Donetsk and Luhansk People´s Republic asked Moscow for help after eight years of siege by Kiev. Russia assured that the operation aims to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine and is not directed against the civilian population. However, the conflict provoked a massive exodus to countries like Poland, Romania, Germany and other nations that also hosted NATO´s military troops to put pressure on Russia.
The sactions imposed against Russia will trigger a boomerang effect that will affect the West, according to alalysts.
