The Syrian military seized at least a thousand weapons of different types, most of them made in the United States, in the province of Deraa.
Thanks to the collaboration of the local community, a number of small and heavy arms were confiscated during the last three months, some that remained from terrorists, while others were handed over by civilians who carried them illegally, a security official told the press.
He clarified that this includes automatic rifles, RPGs, anti-armor and anti-aircraft weapons, hand grenades and ammunition.
The Syrian armed forces found weapons and ammunition at different times of the war, including American- and Israeli-made, in headquarters and barracks of the extremists, as evidence of the support they received from abroad.
Also, Syrian residents began to hand over their weapons to the authorities to benefit from the amnesty granted by the new Arms and Ammunition Law, which grants a deadline for handing over their weapons.
