The Israeli army carried out airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Thursday for the second time in three days, amid the threat by Defense Minister Benny Gantz to launch again an operation on the coastal enclave.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the air force fired several missiles early Thursday at suspected Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) positions in the territory, in response to the rockets fired from there against the country on Wednesday evening.
During the airstrikes, the militiamen responded with anti-aircraft missiles, the second time Hamas has used this system against the IDF.
Two days ago, Gantz threatened a new war campaign if the rocket fire continues.
The Gaza Strip, where some two million people live, was the target of an Israeli offensive in May 2021 that killed more than 250 Palestinians and caused damages worth 570 million dollars.
