Macron and Le Pen clash in debate for presidential elections

Presidential candidates Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen will hold on Wednesday the traditional debate prior to the runoff, for which the president is clearly ahead in the polls.

The TV debate will start at 21:00 hours, local time, with the issue of purchasing power as the first to be addressed. A draw determined on Tuesday that far-right leader Le Pen will speak first.

Five years ago, Le Pen did not do well in the debate prior to the presidential election and then she suffered a heavy defeat at the polls to Macron, who won elections with 66 percent of the vote.

The polls for the electoral contest again project a victory for Macron, leader of the Republic On the Move, although with a dozen points less in the voting intentions, so Le Pen will face a fundamental meeting in her aspirations.

Since Macron and Le Pen made progress to the ballot in the April 10 elections, they have wasted no time in attacking and accusing each other, with a wide voter to conquer, as almost 13 million French citizens decided for abstention and 17 million chose other candidates.

In addition to purchasing power, the main concern of the French citizens, the debate will address the international situation, the social model, climate change, youth, competitiveness, immigration and citizen security.
