Civilians flee Turkish air strikes in Syria

Intense air strikes by the Turkish army on several localities in northern Syria have caused that hundreds of families have fled to safety, in addition to provoking material losses to their properties, media reported in Damascus on Wednesday.

Drone and heavy artillery shelling by Turkish forces and extremist groups operating under their command targeted the town of Abu Rasin and seven surrounding villages in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah, activists quoted by SANA news agency reported.

In addition to the great devastation, Ankara’s hostile actions caused, according to sources, great panic among local residents and many of them had to flee their homes to nearby towns.

Similarly, an air strike with 50 artillery shells was reported in several villages in northern Aleppo province.

In turn, the so-called US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that 11 of its troops were killed by Turkish shelling against its headquarters in the village of Tal Shanan.

Since 2018, Turkey has illegally deployed thousands of soldiers in four provinces in northern Syria, under the pretext of eliminating Kurdish militias that Ankara considers a threat to its security.
