Brazil´s Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) invited the European Union (EU) to watch over the general elections, slated to be held on October 2, the website G1 reported quoting TV Globo.
Brazilians will go to the polls on that date to elect the country´s president, state governors, senators and federal, state and district deputies.
Other international missions have previously participated as observers of the Brazilian electoral process.
In 2020, for example, the Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States accompanied the municipal elections.
TSE president Edson Fachin considered that it is importamt to involve the foreign community in the next election.
According to the website, the Brazilian electoral system was the target of constant attacks without evidence by President Jair Bolsonaro and his allies who allege fraud and weaknesses in the elctronic ballot boxes.
