The former vice president of Ecuador, Jorge Glas Espinel, left the Latacunga social rehabilitation center, after receiving a habeas corpus on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
His departure occurred at 11:30 this Sunday, April 10. Hundreds of people were stationed in the surroundings of the place, to celebrate the release of the former vice president, who was imprisoned for 4 years and 6 months.
Jorge Glas hugged his supporters, and began a tour accompanied by a caravan, towards Guayaquil.
Andean Parliamentarian Virgilio Hernández indicated that the independence of functions must be respected to guarantee the human rights of Ecuadorians.
“As long as the independence of functions is not respected, the rights of any citizen are always in danger,” he indicated.
