The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) published figures on inflation in the country. As of March this year, inflation was 0.11%, compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, annual inflation reached 2.64%, compared to March 2021.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is an economic indicator that measures the evolution of the general level of prices corresponding to the set of consumer products (goods and services) acquired by households in a given period of time. The CPI is the official measure of inflation recorded in the country.
“In March 2022, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 107.39. With this, monthly inflation is 0.11%, compared to the previous month, which was 0.23%, while in March 2021 it stood at 0.18%,” reported the INEC.
In the CPI basket there are 12 consumption divisions. The three divisions that most affected monthly inflation in March 2022 were transportation (0.0451%); miscellaneous goods and services (0.0300%); and, furniture, articles for the home and for the ordinary maintenance of the home (0.0203%).
Annual inflation in March 2022 was 2.64%, in February it was 2.71% and in March 2021 it was -0.83%. For its part, accumulated inflation in March 2022 stood at 1.07%; the previous month was 0.96%; and, that of March 2021 reached 0.38%.
