Unidentified armed men attack police patrol in Paraguay

Unidentified individuals attacked simultaneously a police patrol car and the house of alleged drug dealer Ederson Salinas with large-caliber weapons, ABC Color newspaper reported.

The attackers fired from several pickup trucks with AK-47 rifles at the police vehicle parked near the house in the capital´s neighborhood of Virgen de Caacupé, without reporting any casualties, the newspaper added.

The group used some vehicles to attack ours, while others shot at Salinas´ house, who was the alleged victim, police chief Anibal Franco, official of the Second Police Station, explained.

According to ABC Color, Salinas was one of the trusted men of the well-known Brazilian drug dealer Sergio De Arruda Quintiliano Netto, one of the leaders of the gang on the border between both countries, until he was arrested in his country in 2019.

The agents took the individual to the station after the attack, although in Paraguay there is no criminal record or arrest warrant against him, Commissioner Franco confirmed to the newspaper.
