China on Wednesday unveiled its plan to develop and use hydrogen as a new energy source, while working to achieve carbon neutrality and peak.
By 2025, China will have a complete, innovative system equipped with the necessary technologies and processes to use hydrogen as fuel, the text stated.
In addition, the annual hydrogen production should reach between 100,000 tons and 200,000 tons, which would reduce carbon dioxide emissions between one million and two million tons per year.
Globally, hydrogen has become a strategic choice for major developed economies seeking to accelerate the transformation and modernization of the energy matrix.
China is currently the world’s largest hydrogen producer, with an annual production of about 33 million tons.
