Decision to suspend Ukrainian opposition parties causes protests

The Opposition Platform-For Life party described as illegal the temporary decision of the Ukrainian authorities to suspend the activities of parties opposed to the Government and consider them pro-Russian.

The political alliance posted a statement on its Telegram channel that it will challenge the measure of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in the future because it considers that it lacks a legal basis.

The statement also said that “all the accusations against our association are invented by the authorities to justify their inappropriate actions.” He pointed out that with this action Kiev intends to wage an unfair political war against its main opponent.

For Life called on its deputies, members and sympathizers to continue working in the interest of the people and to prepare to rebuild the country once the war with Russia has ended.

It pointed out that “instead of a political dialogue, the search for a compromise and ways to unite the country, the authorities have relied on raids, intimidation, repression and atrocities against their opponents.”

This Sunday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced the suspension of the activities of some opposition parties, including the Opposition Platform-For Life for the duration of the state of martial law in Ukraine.

Shariy’s Party, Ours, Opposition Bloc, Left Opposition, Union of Left Forces, Derzhava, Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialists, Vladimir Saldo’s Bloc also appear on the list. According to Kiev, all these political associations are linked to Russia.
