Lula said Brazil is governed by a psychopath

Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said in the southern city of Curitiba that Brazil is currently governed by a psychopath, clearly referring to far-right President Jair Bolsonaro.

Back in the capital of Parana state for the first time since he got out of police jail on Nov.8, 2019, Lula attended a ceremony of affiliation to the Workers’ Party (PT, in Portuguese) of former Governor and Senator Roberto Requião.

“Do not tell me that Lula radicalized, do not tell me that Lula got out of jail more nervous, seeking revenge. I did not learn to get angry. My mission here is to prove that the country can be great,” the former working class leader said.

He added that Brazil was not a paria during his administration, “like it is today, governed by a psychopath who does not know how to govern and take care of this country.”

He maintained that individual, talking about Bolsonaro, cannot pronounce the word peace, “he can only speak of hatred. A man who cannot speak about love, culture; he only speaks about weapons.”

Before the ceremony, the former union leader talked with the group that, for 580 days in a row, demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Federal Police in Curitiba while he was serving political prison.

The members of Free Lula Vigil camped since April 7, 2018. Activists and members of the Brazil Popular Front, the Landless Workers’ Movement and the Unified Workers’ Central participated in it.
