Reaching out the victory of the Historic Pact for Colombia (PhxC, in Spanish), a coalition of alternative, progressive and leftist forces, was the most important event this week in Colombia´s legislative elections.
On Sunday, the elections to renew the House of Representatives and Senate of the Republic of Colombia were conducted, where the Alternative Forces party showed a clear victory.
According to final count of votes, this party got 2,692,999 votes for Senate, nearly 400,000 more than those previously reported.
The PHxC won three more seats in Senate compared to 16 previously reported, so candidates including César Pachón would be member of the legislative group headed by Senator Gustavo Bolívar.
Partial consolidation of municipal counts for Senate showed PHxC remained the most voted political force nationwide, followed by Conservative Party (2,201,183 votes) and the Liberal Party (2,078,858).
Behind are Alianza Verde (one million 906 thousand 21); the ruling Democratic Center (one million 874 thousand 762); Radical Change (one million 586 thousand 284); the Partido de la U (one million 494 thousand 98) and the MIRA (564 thousand 737).
Similarly, Gustavo Petro, PHxC leader, remained as most voted with 4,495,831 votes; meanwhile, Francisco Gutiérrez -member of the Team for Colombia right-wing coalition- hit 2,161,686 votes and Sergio Fajardo (Centro Esperanza party) with 723,475 votes.
