Ecuadorians from 12 to 17 years old are vaccinated against Covid-19

The Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador (MSP, in Spanish) applies the reinforcement of Covid-19 vaccines to teenagers from 12 to 17 years of age, throughout the national territory.

The only requirement to receive the third dose of the biological vaccine is to have completed six months after the second inoculation.

For this age group, the MSP provided vaccines from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNtech, which are distributed at points throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the booster continues for people over 18 years of age, five months after their second injection.

According to the digital tool Vacunómetro, to date 84,39% of the target population has the complete scheme, while 88,41% have accessed the first dose.

In the same line, 4,316,743 citizens received the booster.

In recent weeks, health authorities confirmed a downward trend in the level of Covid-19 infection, which, according to experts, is largely due to the broad scope of the vaccination campaign.

The positive results of the program are also evidenced by the decrease in hospital ward and intensive care unit admissions, as well as in daily deaths from the disease.
