The Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela, indicated that the resolutions of the Ministry of Labor, on the Remuneration Scale and the Unified Compensation of the National Police, do not increase or decrease the salaries of the uniformed officers.
Her statements, issued today at the Carondelet Palace, added that the years of service in each grade of the police officers do increase. And that it is about homologation of salaries and compensations, with respect to that of the military. This action, she said, is provided for in the Organic Code of Citizen Security and Public Order Entities (Coescop), approved in 2017.
Vela added that the years of service in officer rank have increased. Now it will be up to 47 years of age, from second lieutenants to generals; and non-commissioned officers, troop police, 39 years old. “What it does is introduce the value of the remuneration in those additional (periods),” the minister said.
Vela was accompanied by the Minister of Labor, Patricio Donoso. At the event, the minister added that there was a lack of communication in the police on this issue. In addition, she pointed out that there are proposals from some sectors to reduce the time of service of the uniformed, but it is an issue that has not yet reached the State Portfolio.
